Animals often become orphans due to conflict issues as they try to share the same land and resources as people. Their mothers are often killed for entering village areas and eating crops or fruits on the trees. They are sometimes rescued from the pet trade or found injured and alone in habituated areas.

The lucky ones, are taken to the safe and loving environment of Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust where they are rehabilitated and then given a chance to return back to the wild where they belong.
